“Her chords had the bright payoff of internal octaves as well as the acrid carp of dissonance. Altogether, the group was finding a new cooperative language, sometimes hitting a sputtering stride, sometimes avoiding cohesion altogether”.
Giovanni Russonello, The New York Times
More than 25 Years after their initial meeting in a rehearsal basement in the east village, the Anat Fort trio has hundreds of worldwide performances under its belt. After having lived in NY for the first part of their journey together, its members now live in Tel-Aviv, New York, and Berlin yet they manage to come together, tour, play, and record on a regular basis. The trio’s new album’ “The Berlin Sessions”, captures it at its creative best. Out in 2023 on Sunnyside Records, It is a two-cd journey, where the first part consists mainly on free improvisation and a wide range piece, “The Jain Suite”. The second features compositions by Fort, a standard, two pop covers and a version of “Oseh Shalom’ (Make Peace prayer). Like all other album by the trio, it is a great celebration of many years of close friendship and music spread over 3 continents.
